Abstract

The research aims to evaluate the effects of orange peel fragment (frit) in diets for zebrafish (Danio rerio) subjected to thermal stress. The research will be divided into two studies: study I will include the evaluation of production performance over 60 days. Study II will evaluate the dietary supplementation of frit on the antioxidant status of Danio rerio subjected to thermal challenge (34 ºC, 48 h). For productive performance, 588 juvenile Danio rerio will be used distributed in 49 8 L aquariums, in a completely randomized design with seven treatments and seven replications, namely: control diet (without frit supplementation) and the other diets supplemented with 3, 6 , 9, 12, 15 and 18 g frit kg-1. After the end of the productive performance, the zootechnical parameters will be evaluated: weight gain, final length, condition factor, feed consumption, feed efficiency, specific growth rate and survival percentage. In study II, 298 zebrafish will be subjected to thermal challenge (34 ºC, 48 h) and then the activity of antioxidant system enzymes (superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase) will be evaluated. The body concentration of malonaldehyde will also be assessed. The results will be analyzed using the Minitab® program. Productive performance and antioxidant status data will initially be evaluated for normality and homoscedasticity. They will later be subjected to analysis of variance, at a 5% significance level, followed by the Tukey test (P<0.05). They will also be subjected to polynomial contrast analysis and, for comparison between moments, before and after stress, the data will be subjected to the T-Student test.
