Abstract

Neoplasic diseases are typically associated with severe weight loss, which canoccur both due to a physical impediment to the gastrointestinal tract, which blocks the food transit, as well as a result of paraneoplasic syndrome. Therefore, we seek to differentiate a healthy animal from an oncologic patient in regards to body composition, determined by the dilution of deuterium isotopes and DEXA, in order to advance understanding about the disease staging. These findings could contribute to the therapeutic approach to these patients, in the future.
