Abstract

This master's proposal will encompass studies using catalytic adsorbents for an integrated process of capturing and converting CO2 into CO through the reverse water-gas shift (rWGS) route. The adsorbent fraction of the system will be composed of mesostructured sodium or potassium oxides synthesized using the hard template method, and the catalyst fraction will consist of materials based on Cu, Co, or Ni, atomically dispersed (single atoms) on CeO2, prepared by co-precipitation methods or redispersion and high-temperature trapping (atom trapping). In addition to the adsorption capacity of the pure oxide, the influence of promoters composed of fused alkali metal salts on the surfaces must be verified. The materials will be evaluated in an integrated capture and conversion system, and structurally and chemically characterized through ex-situ and in-situ techniques to confirm the formation of the desired structures and also establish a relationship between structure and activity during the reaction. With the development of this work, materials are expected to be obtained that overcome common problems found by dual-function materials (DFM), commonly used in the process, but which present limitations related to adsorption capacity and control over the resulting product of the reaction.
