Abstract

This research project aims to investigate the effects of different nitrogen levels on the nutritional status of sorghum using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). The experiment will be conducted in a greenhouse at the University of São Paulo, located in the city of Pirassununga (SP), Brazil. Experimental units will be analyzed at two developmental stages: V4 and flowering. Distinct nitrogen doses will be applied to each pot, and the crop response at each stage will be collected by a digital camera. The digital images of the plants will be processed in the Laboratory of Agricultural Machines and Precision Agriculture - Department of Biosystems Engineering (LAMAP/ZEB). The results will be evaluated regarding the accuracy, precision, and recall of the models in relation to the data of dry mass and nitrogen concentration of the plants. The study seeks to fill gaps in the understanding of sorghum nutrition, as well as to explore and develop innovative technologies to optimize fertilizer management and improve agricultural productivity in a sustainable way.
