Abstract

H2 is believed to be an alternative of great interest for energy storage. For such, electrochemical tools aiming for higher efficiency and activity for this gas generation are of great importance. The present proposal sugests the oxygen evolution reaction substitution for lignin oxidation. Lignins are biomacromolecules in large quantities in biomass and are also the largest phenolic renewable source known. For such, it is suggested to use basic and advanced electrochemical techniques and material characterization tools for optimization of metallic (oxides) catalysts and fundamental investigation of the reaction mechanism.
