Abstract

Aedes Aegypti represents a significant threat to public health in Brazil, as a vector for diseases such as dengue, zika and chikungunya. Effective control of this mosquito is essential to prevent outbreaks of these diseases and protect the population. In this context, the detection and correct classification of this type of mosquito is of great importance. This project therefore proposes the development of a solution for detecting and classifying mosquitoes, with particular emphasis on identifying the Aedes Aegypti species. This work is based on the application of artificial intelligence techniques, specifically Computer Vision, as a tool to achieve the proposed objectives. The methodology employed is based on the application of the YOLO (You Only Look Once) library to analyze images that do or do not contain Aedes Aegypti. The result is an automated system capable of receiving a photograph as input and, using Computer Vision, identifying the presence of mosquitoes and classifying them as Aedes Aegypti or not, thus contributing to the control and prevention of diseases transmitted by this vector.
