Abstract In plants, Boron (B) is a micronutrient that plays roles in the structure of cell wall and membrane, pollinic tube development as well as roots nodulation. Due to B low translocation across plant tissue, B deficiency might occur even when the element is applied, mainly during flowering and pollination. Some organic compounds, such as ascorbic acid might bind B and enhance its mobilization by phloem. Groundnut is a Fabaceae with expressive expansion in São Paulo state, and B deficiency in this crop might impair plant growth, yield and even nodulation. The objective of this Project is to evaluate the effect or organic compounds into B remobilization across leaves in plants. The experimental design will be a 3x2 factorial composed by three B application rates (0, 2,5 and 5 g L-1 as boric acid) with and without ascorbic acid application, the experiment will be performed in a greenhouse. The experiment will be carried out in order to differentiate leaves that received and that did not received foliar B application (mature and young leaves, respectively). Evaluations of root, young leaves and mature leaves biomass as well as groundnut yield. Boron concentration will be evaluated in young and mature leaves to estimate its distribution and remobilization within plants. The N metabolism and biological N fixation will also be evaluated by nodule counting as well as ureides, free amino acids and total sugars. | |
