Abstract

In order to establish the association of the autohemotherapy technique (AHT) with the surgical procedures of total unilateral mastectomy in dogs, this project aims to perform preoperative and postoperative thermographic image analysis, in order to report possible modifications in the redirection of blood circulation and local metabolism. Thermography is a non-invasive evaluation method characterized by the analysis of the temperature of the animal's body surface and its changes resulting from pathology, inflammation, neoplastic and cicatrization processes. In the results of previous studies, the promising role that thermography plays in staging, prognosis and therapy of breast neoplasms has already been established, in which the difference in temperature is correlated with the lesional pattern and malignancy of neoplasms, acting in early diagnostic triage. It is expected to confirm the association between the malignancy of mammary neoplasms and the increase in temperature, as well as to correlate postoperative thermography with the possible inflammatory and cicatrization changes provided by treatment with AHT in female dogs.
