Abstract

In Brazil, pest, disease and weed control in cotton crops is commonly carried outthrough the application of chemical phytosanitary products. In this context, production faceschallenges such as pests, weeds and diseases, especially the boll weevil, Anthonomus grandisBoheman, 1843 (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), which represents up to 10% of the totalproduction cost and is mainly controlled by chemical insecticides. Biological control, especially with the parasitoid Jaliscoa grandis Burks (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae), is apromising alternative, but pesticides often affect its efficiency. Therefore, the proposed studyaims to evaluate the selectivity of agricultural pesticides for the parasitoid, aiming at a moreeffective integrated management of cotton pests.
