Abstract

Developmental dyslexia is the most common specific learning disorder, affecting 5 to 17% of the world population. Individuals with this condition may experience difficulties with phonological processing, rapid naming, working memory, processing speed, and the automatic development of skills. SH2B3 has recently been associated with this condition. This gene encodes the adaptor protein 3 of the SH2B family, which is involved in various signaling pathways related to growth factors and cytokine receptors. Overexpression of this gene in the rat nervous system has been shown to decrease neurite growth in cortex neurons, but there is no information on the effects of this gene on cytokine signaling pathways in microglia. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effects of SH2B3 overexpression on neurons and microglia to understand its involvement in neuroinflammation and establish a possible connection with the cellular biology of dyslexia.
