Abstract

Organic materials have emerged as an important class of nonlinear optical materials because they offer opportunities in both basic and applied research. From a technological point of view, only by understanding nonlinear optical properties and developing materials with high nonlinearities is it possible to develop photonic devices. Several optical techniques have been used for the nonlinear optical characterization of materials. In the work plan proposed here, the student will have the opportunity to become familiar with some experimental methods such as, for example, the Z-scan technique and two-photon fluorescence. In this context, in this work plan we aim to study the process of two-photon absorption in organic compounds, using the aforementioned techniques.
