Abstract

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is obtained by biotechnology, through the fermentation of Streptococcus zooepidermicus in a vegetable substrate. The advantage of using HA obtained through biotechnology is that this technique allows obtaining a chemically pure product, perfectly reproducible and in unlimited quantities. HA is the most abundant glycosaminoglycan in the extracellular matrix constituting the dermis, non-sulfated, not covalently linked to protein and is the only glycosaminoglycan not limited to animal tissues, and is also found in the capsule of certain bacteria. The objective of this work is to evaluate and compare, through histomorphometricand inflammatory profile analyses, the tissue response, granuloma formation and biodegradation rate of hyaluronic acid injected into the dermis of rats. For this, 40 animals will be used divided into 4 experimental periods of 3, 7, 30 and 60 days, being separated into 4 test groups, and these will receive 2 hydrogels to be tested (test and cellulose), in addition, 1 available hydrogel will be administered on the market and saline solution. After euthanasia, the pieces will be processed and laboratory procedures carried out. This project will have a triple-blind analysis, the applicator of the hydrogels, the pathologist who will analyze the histology and statistics for each product that is applied and analyzed.
