Abstract

Quantifying the LD50 of Francisella orientalis in Nile tilapia is a crucial process to determine the dose of this bacterium required to cause death in 50% of infected fish. This quantification is usually performed through experiments in which different groups of fish are exposed to increasing concentrations of bacteria, and mortality is recorded over time. Based on the data obtained, it is possible to calculate the LD50, which represents an important measure of the virulence and pathogenicity of F. orientalis in Nile tilapia.
