Abstract

The modification of the radial profile of the electric field in magnetically confined plasmas will be investigated using an external electric potential (bias) to control turbulence and anomalous particle transport at the plasma edge in the Texas Helimak. The study will examine how different bias values affect plasma confinement. The methodology includes the analysis of time series of plasma measurements using statistical techniques, spectral analysis, and information theory. Specific objectives include determining the optimal bias values for confinement and analyzing the influence of bias on extreme events and the chaotic nature of time series, to improve turbulence control and magnetic confinement in fusion devices.
