Grus's caracterization at the Region of Chapada do Araripe

Abstract

Studies on paleosurfaces, alteration profiles and grus are extremely important for understanding paleoenvironments, paleoclimates and the origin of relief forms that we see today. The proposed work seeks to delve deeper into the topic of grus, a topic still little developed in Brazilian literature, correlating them with paleo-surfaces and alteration profiles. Thus, this work proposes to analyze and relate profiles of alteration and grus in Chapada do Araripe, more specifically in the municipalities of Juazeiro do Norte - CE, Marcolândia - PI and Bodocó - PE, in order to understand their source material, their formation , their age limits, active and/or past processes and how these influence the formation of truncated or exhumed grus in the context of the region. To carry out this analysis, granulometry studies will be carried out, which seeks to understand the composition of the soil or studied material (grus) in the fractions of gravel, sand, silt and clay, which are essential for the classification of grus. In addition to this, X-ray Fluorescence studies will be carried out in an attempt to identify the concentrations of oxides, both in the soil and in the grus, in order to understand the active and forming processes of the samples, in addition to Micromorphology studies, aiming to understand the pedogenetic features of the samples and how they can explain the formative and current processes of each location.
