Abstract

The production of urban space in the interior of São Paulo has been significant in recent years, creating new territories and transforming the established relationships between them and the structured city over the past hundred years. In this context, the Regional Capitals B of the state of São Paulo stand out, as they are hubs that connect regional urban networks, where real estate activity has been prominent, surpassing the apparent demands for housing and urbanized land of their local societies. The present research project proposal aims to investigate real estate production in the Population Arrangement of São José dos Campos between the years 2000 and 2022, which includes the municipalities forming a contiguous urban agglomeration, including São José dos Campos, Caçapava, and Jacareí. This set stands out in various indicators of real estate production during the period, showing a high level of integration among its urban dynamics. The investigation intends, through extensive literature review and the collection, systematization, and analysis of real estate activity indicators, to present an overview of urban space production in this specific context, seeking to identify its impacts at the local level and the particularities of this dynamic in the regional context. Furthermore, it aims to build a database that enables comparative studies with other Regional Capitals B in São Paulo, aiming to contribute to the understanding of the Brazilian urbanization process in the early 21st century beyond the major metropolises.
