Abstract

Urban Afforestation is an essential part of mitigating the effects of climate change, and seedling production nurseries are not prepared for the great demand for afforestation. It is necessary to have a careful look and a lot of research in the production of seedlings, as they are the protagonists of the success or otherwise of afforestation. Currently, seedling survival is not reaching an ideal percentage and much of this is due to the development of seedlings in the production process. From this scenario, the objective of this project is to select two species most planted in urban afforestation and analyze the seedlings in a municipal nursery regarding their biomass allocation between root and part area, in addition to evaluating the development of the roots through their architecture and content of non-structural reserves and the profile of structural carbohydrates.
