Abstract

This scientific diffusion project on paraconsistent logic has three main objectives: (i) present to the public a historical trajectory of the field of paraconsistency in Brazil, starting from its development by Professor Newton da Costa in the 1960s, (ii) explain the main mathematical and philosophical concepts that underlie different paraconsistent logics and identify their current research frontiers, such as the "Paraconsistent Set Theory" project associated with this proposal and, finally, (iii) investigate the potential applications of paraconsistency in numerous fields of knowledge, theoretical and practical. To achieve these objectives, the project starts from a bibliographical research and intends to carry out a series of interviews with relevant paraconsistency researchers at institutions such as USP and Unicamp. Intended for the general public, the project will use language without formalism whenever possible, accessible to the non-expert or academic who is not familiar with the field of logic. The content of diffusion products, regardless of the format to be chosen, will be guided simultaneously by scientific accuracy and by an informative, dynamic and attractive character, suitable for the entertainment language of social media.
