Abstract

The current proposal is part of the FAPESP thematic project - Axis 3 "Multimodal and Discourse Multidimensional Analysis on socially relevant issues for the contemporary world" and has the initial objective of observing and investigating phenomena such as sustainable development, climate crisis, pandemic, infodemic, prejudice, disinformation, hate, racism and the far-right, and religiosity. More specifically, this research project aims to analyze inclusive language guides in English from a multidimensional perspective, employing Corpus Linguistics (Berber Sardinha, 2004) as its theoretical and methodological foundation. The study will apply different types of Multidimensional Analysis (Biber; 1988, 1996; Berber Sardinha, 2016, 2017, 2020, 2021, 2024), namely Functional, Lexical, and Collocation Shift to examine a corpusof inclusive language guides and guidelines in English from institutionalized organizations. The project is part of Axis 3, 'Multimodal AMD and discourse on socially relevant issues for the contemporary world,' of the associated Thematic Project, contributing to the expansion of MDA as an approach to discourse modeling. The main research goals include determining the grammatical parameters of variation, identifying predominant discourses, and comparing representations in original and modified texts according to inclusive guidelines. The research seeks to fill a gap in the current literature by providing a systematic and comparative analysis of existing inclusive language guides. By employing Multidimensional Analysis, the study will refine this approach, contributing to its capability to efficiently model discourse, in line with the goals of the Thematic Project. The results will contribute to a better understanding of the register inclusive language guides, by providing a comprehensive and detailed description of its language, thereby enabling a better understanding of its influence in contemporary society.
