Abstract

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a prevalent cardiovascular condition characterized by atherosclerosis and subsequent myocardial ischemia. Inflammatory processes, including the participation of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-6 (IL-6), play a crucial role in the pathogenesis and progression of CAD. Colchicine, an anti-inflammatory drug, has shown a reduction in cardiovascular events and inflammation in patients with CAD. However, the precise mechanism of action of colchicine in modulating IL-6 levels and its impact on patients with CAD are still unclear. This research project aims to investigate the role of colchicine in modulating interleukin-6 in patients with CAD.
