Abstract

Due to the overlapping crises of climate, economy, and health, hunger and food insecurity have increased worldwide. To enable responses commensurate with the scale of the problem, the sustainable promotion of food systems has become a challenge for local public policy agendas. With the aim of supporting municipal management in the promotion of food and nutritional security, the goal of this activity plan is to propose a methodology for identifying areas suitable for urban agriculture from a multidimensional perspective (considering environmental, socioeconomic, and demographic aspects). This study will be divided into five stages: i) review of national and international literature on the subject; ii) identification and collection of available spatial data considering environmental factors, socioeconomic and demographic impacts; iii) proposition of socioeconomic and environmental suitability indicators for urban agriculture; iv) validation of results; and v) structuring of the methodology for replication in other urban contexts. The results of this study will be disseminated in the form of scientific articles, presentations at conferences and seminars, and to public officials. (AU)
