Abstract

This research continues a large-scale investigation - suported by the Carlos Chagas Foundation (Project EPFC 0283), and by the CNPQ (Process 445406/2014-3). In 2016, based on elements that emerged in the aforementioned study, we added the introduction of the Portuguese issue on this topic, respecting the approximations and keeping due distances between the educational issues in that country, in relation to the Brazilian reality. Thus, we implemented the research Conflicts and coexistence in the school space: possible approaches between Brazil and Portugal, through the BEPE Grant (Process Fapesp 16/07220-4). The study was based at UIED (Education and Development Research Unit), which supports the Doctoral Program in Educational Sciences at the Faculty of Science and Technology of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, in partnership with professor Mariana Gaio Alves. Continuing the theme, this investigation seeks to understand elements that configure the grammar of coexistence relationships between managers, families and/or guardians of public school students. This is a qualitative study - of a collaborative nature -, whose general objective is to discuss issues that affect the daily life of public schools, in partnership with school managers, around the following issues: challenges faced by municipal public education units in situations of conflict generated, above all, by cultural differences and socioeconomic origins of students; actions that can be implemented to mitigate the phenomenon of intolerance and the creation of stigma in the school space; strategies in school planning to curb the harmful consequences of the use of social networks in the emergence of school conflicts. The research will be based at the Institute of Education of the University of Minho, at the Center for Research in Education - CIED - in partnership with professor Doctor Maria Fernanda Martins, within the scope of line 1 - Diversity, democratization and social inclusion, where she develops the Policies project , Governance and Administration of Education-3D Education - Democracy, inequality and difference. Keywords: school management; stigmata; discrimination; vulnerable contexts.
