Abstract

Our research group has been advancing the sulfur ylides chemistry, exploring the reactivity of this compounds in a range of synthetic transformations. Currently, we are studying the reaction of sulfur ylides with highly reactive species, such as carbocations and strained-rings. In this sense, Prof. Dr. Edward Anderson at Oxford University has an extensive experience with strained-ring, developing several methodologies for the synthesis and functionalization of bicyclo[1.1.1]pentanes. The present proposal aims to study the reaction of sulfur ylides with strained-rings. This postdoctoral proposal will enrich the chemistry developed by our research group, expanding the applications of sulfur ylides to reactions with highly reactive small rings, an area that remains largely uncharted. The proposal is structured for a 12-months period comprising three major reaction pathways, where reaction optimizations, scope studies and demonstration will be performed to explore the full potential of sulfur ylides in these transformations.
