Abstract

A prospective longitudinal field quantitative study on the effectiveness analysis of using Music Therapy in newborn babies with a gestational age of less than 34 weeks admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Children's Hospital and Maternity (HCM) in São José do Rio Preto. The evaluation focuses on heart rate variability, weight gain, and reduction of hospitalization time for these patients.For data collection, the Polar H10 device will be used to analyze heart rate variability, and the patients' medical records in the program will be used to acquire other data.Regarding the type of musical intervention, a sound box playing white noise with a low intensity that do not hurt the baby's hearing for 15 minutes, three times a week, until the moment of discharge from the neonatal intensive care unit, and with the limitation of three months of accompaniment.It is expected that there will be an improvement in all the evaluated indices with the use of this type of therapy.
