Abstract

The central idea is to harness the energy generated in the oxidation of contaminants to drive the reduction of CO¿, transforming it into alcohols, organic acids and synthesis gas. This project aims to apply photoelectrochemical systems using photoanodes already developed in our group based on BiVO4 for the oxidation of sulfamethoxazole, a common contaminant in domestic effluents, simultaneously with the reduction of CO¿ in value-added carbonaceous products, using CuO electrodes.
