Abstract

Keloids are pathological scars that often emerge in visible areas of the body, significantly impacting patients' quality of life due to social, aesthetic, and psychological effects. Treating these scars is challenging, marked by an incomplete understanding of their pathophysiology and high post-surgical recurrence rates, highlighting the urgent need to optimize therapeutic strategies. There is also a clear need for further clinical studies to assess the effectiveness of interventions in reducing keloid recurrence, especially in critical areas such as the ear. In this project, adult patients will be selected for the treatment of this condition, using a combined approach of surgical treatment supplemented by radiotherapy. Subsequently, the prevalence of recurrences and the timing of positive recurrence during outpatient follow-up will be evaluated, if present.
