Abstract

The malignant transformation of keratynocites is not yet completely understood, and the effectsof blue light exposure have been completely ignored. We have previously demonstratedthat keratynocites accumulate lipofuscin and this process is somohow correlated with thefunction of lysosomes and the autophagic flux. We will use a combination of biophysicsand cellular physiology methods to elucidate the inhibition of the autophagic flux, theaccumulation of lipofuscin responding to VL, the signaling consequences in several cell modelsand test simple chemical and biological extracts that may inhibit this process.
