Abstract

In this project, we will investigate the electron-electron interaction potentials of two electrons in a GaAs/AlGaAs heterojunction in a perpendicular uniform magnetic field. First, we will study theexact solutions of the quantum states of the Landau levels for a single electron and the sub-Landau levels for a pair of electrons in this system. Then, we will calculate the direct Coulomb repulsion and exchange potentials between two electrons in the lowest Landau level. The combinations of the different single-electron states and their total angular momenta will be compared with the corresponding electron-pair states. The investigation aims to understand the contributions of the direct Coulomb repulsion and the exchange interaction in the lowest Landau level to the electron-pair states. The obtained results together with the correlation effects will help us to better understand the formation of the electron pairs.
