Abstract

This project aims to investigate the causes that lead children and/or adolescents to work, leaving aside their educational expectations and their future with school, making them have to face unhealthy jobs and long hours, which rob them of their youth and dignity, so that they can help support their families. And since this situation directly affects the schooling process, public policies to prevent child labor are necessary. Thus, the main objective of the research is to investigate the causes of child labor in Brazil and analyze its consequences on the education and development of children. This is a basic bibliographical research through bibliographical research using mainly scientific articles, doctrines, and a qualitative approach. The method used will be deductive, also seeking to follow the paths of the historical-dialectical method. The physical consequences that occur to a child and an adolescent exposed to child labor at an early age are undeniable, since they are still growing individuals, all areas of the body are directly affected, not just the physical. Psychosocial and mental issues are factors that are highly affected by such a situation. The research aims to obtain an understanding of how child labor affects the schooling of children and adolescents by evaluating the effectiveness of public policies and existing programs in combating child labor.
