Abstract

In this project, we will develop metabolomics methodologies to develop new applications in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infections caused by resistant pathogens. We will focus on diagnostic metabolomics, including the development of methodologies in sample preparation and for targeted and non-targeted metabolomic analyses, particularly of biological fluids, cells, and tissues. For this, we will use a gas chromatography platform and a high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-HRMS, MS/MS) platform, with Quadrupole-time-of-flight (QTOF) analyzers. At the same time, we will use bioinformatics tools for sample dereplication and search in online public databases, such as HMDB (Human Metabolome Database), Metlin, MassBank, among others. The data will undergo statistical analysis to extract relevant information from mass spectrometry data using multivariate and univariate analysis methods.
