Abstract

Phosphate fertilizer has low efficiency in regions with weathered tropical soils such as those in Brazil, this is because the phosphate anion has an affinity for forming complexes with iron and aluminum oxides and hydroxides present in these soils. Silicon (Si) is an element considered beneficial for plants, however, its dynamics in the soil are still poorly known. Therefore, this study aims to assess the residual effect of fertilization with Si and P on development, P absorption and grain yield in rice grown in weathered soil. To achieve this objective, the residual effect of the application of increasing doses of P (0, 50, 100 and 200 mg dm-3) combined with four doses of Si (0, 240, 480 and 960 mg dm-3) will be evaluated, thus being a factorial 4x4 with four repetitions. Assessments will be carried out both at the plant (physiological, productivity, dry mass and P and Si content in the aerial part) and in the soil (P and Si content and pH value). The data will be subjected to analysis of variance and regression to compare means.
