Abstract

The present study aims to problematize the process of representation of childhood outlined in the main group of characters that make up the North American series The Simpsons (1989). To this end, the research is based on contemporary conceptions of childhood and family, in line with sociological and pedagogical studies, in addition to their developments in the media production that was established in the last decades of the 20th century, with emphasis on the protagonists Bart , Lisa and Maggie. To support this proposal, the writings of Ariès (1978), Benjamin (1984), Zilberman (1984) and Kramer (1998) will be used, as well as titles about audiovisual production (films and series) aimed at children and young people, such as those initialed by Denis (2010), Melo (2011), Luiz (2020) and Citelli (2004). In this sense, to verify how the child's voice was constructed in the series - interfering (or not) in the family universe - only one (01) episode will be chosen, easily accessible on digital platforms, marked by wide popularity and engagement among internet users, which will serve as an object of investigation to be observed, discussed and examined, according to the theoretical guidelines announced above. Furthermore, it is a scientific investigation, with a qualitative focus, focused on the analytical treatment of an audiovisual production, material that is easily accessible to children, adolescents and adults.
