Abstract

The metamorphic rocks that crop out in the São Pedro da União region, Minas Gerais, comprise igneous-derived stromatic diatexites at their base and sedimentary-derived stromatic diatexites at the top, separated by the Campo Gerais Shear Zone. Previous geological mapping and thermobarometric studies have assigned different names for these rocks, such as Campo Gerais Complex, São Vicente Unit, Socorro-Guaxupé Nappe, Andrelândia Nappe System, and Araxá Group. However, previous investigations of partial melting are limited in their scope, lacking the thermodynamic modeling and petrochronology necessary to understand precise metamorphic peak conditions, melt crystallization ages, mineral breakdown reactions, and their correlation with the tectonic events that generated them. This doctorate proposal aims to investigate the partial melting of these rocks to characterize the anatectic process and determine the pressure and temperature conditions that affected them over time. The results will contribute to understanding the tectonometamorphic evolution of the migmatites and their correlation with the units that crop out in the sector, thereby advancing knowledge of the Southern Brasilia Orogen.
