Abstract

The research proposes to carry out a survey and comparative analysis of healthcare architectures projected during the State Government Action Plan in São Paulo (PAGE), which took place in management of Carlos Alberto Carvalho Pinto at the head of São Paulo State Government (1959-1963). The plan, which took place in the context of establishing national development policies and the global affirmation of modern Brazilian architecture, marked an important phase in the consolidation of new languages and social and political concerns in the production of public architecture in São Paulo. Through this initiative, which reached different economic and administrative sectors of the State, paradigmatic works were made possible within a context of inflection in public architecture in São Paulo. The focus of the research is, primarily, to investigate the production of health equipment during this important planning experience, based on the proposition of a specific program thatcovered the production of hospitals, health centers, childcare centers, etc. in the period between 1959 and 1963, during the validity of PAGE. This experience resulted in an important documentary collection that is still little known, to be collected among the project collections of IPESP, CPOS and the Department of Health of São Paulo.Next, the projects will be ordered comparatively based on their architectural and programmatic affinities. To this end, the research will use the analysis and interpretation of primary sources located in public collections, and reading secondary sources - according to the selected bibliography. Finally, the research aims to fill a historiographical gap regarding the production of PAGE for healthcare in complement to other research already carried out on the plan, with emphasis on those carried out through research "Diffusion of Modern Architecture in Brazil - The Architectural Heritage Created by the Action Plan of Carvalho Pinto Government (1959-1963)" (FAPESP Process: 2011/51108-0).
