Abstract

The skin changes significantly during aging - the skin barrier function decreases due to lower production of skin surface lipids, their change in composition and skin microbiome changes. From this reason, aging skin has lower hydration, higher transepidermal water loss and pH. As a result, aging skin can be easily more injured. This project is focused on the determination skin surface lipid composition and skin microbiome of aging skin in dependence on seasons (winter and summer) in two different populations (Central Europe population and South America population) and their mutual comparison. Next project part is preparation of cosmetic products that contain prebiotics and postbiotics, application of these cosmetic products on volunteer skin and determination of skin surface lipid composition changes and skin microbiome changes.
