Abstract

High-energy heavy ion collisions can produce an environment to create matter under extreme conditions. This medium, where the partons (quarks and gluons) are nearly free, is know as the quark-gluon plasma (QGP), and indeed led to the experimental observation of this state of matter. However, recently signatures of this phenomenon were also unexpectelly observed in much smaller size than AA collisions, such as proton-proton collisions. Pursuing the smallness limit of these findings strongly motivated to look for this structure in a jet, the smallest conceivable system to search for such signature. One way of studying this structure is using femtoscopy, which can probe the spacial dimensions of the QGP. This project aims to perform data analyses to measure physics observables related to the collectivity signatures inside high-multiplicity jets, using Run-3 proton-proton collisions data by the CMS collaboration at the LHC, CERN. By measuring femtocospic correlation functions and analyzing the interference patterns of these particles, the size, shape, and the effects of the underlying dynamics of the system can be closely examined.
