Abstract

Heterobimetallic Ru-Pd complexes will be synthesized to catalyze tandem Suzuki-Miyaura/transfer hydrogenation reaction of bromoaryl ketones with boronic acids and formic acid as hydrogen source. The project will be developed in three interconnected steps: initially, the Ru- and Pd-monometallic and Pd-Ru heterobimetallic complexes bearing the phenanthroline as bridging ligand will be synthesized. The second step will be addressed in evaluating the catalytic activity of the complexes for Suzuki-Miyaura of bromoaryl ketones and transfer hydrogenation of methylaryl ketones under thermal and photochemical conditions. Finally, the third step will focus on coupling the Suzuki-Miyaura and transfer hydrogenation reactions using bromoaryl ketones and boronic acids, followed by the addition of formic acid as a hydrogen source, employing assisted tandem catalysis for the synthesis of alcohol derivatives.
