Abstract

Looking for deformations of the integrable Principal Chiral Model (PCM) that preserve its integrable structure allows us to investigate different portions of the space of integrable models. In this context, a large class of deformations of the PCM are the so called Yang Baxter (YB) deformations. One particularly interesting type of YB deformation is the $\eta$-deformation, first introduced in 2014. These deformations correspond to a deformation of the symmetry algebra (specifically a q-deformation). The goal of this project is to study what happens if we $\eta$-deform a subgroup of the full symmetry group of the PCM. The primary objective of the project is to construct the model and analyse its integrability structure. After that, future directions include generalizing this construction to string sigma models and formulating the model using other approaches, namely the Poisson-Lie duality and the $\mathcal{E}-$model formation.
