Abstract

The present project proposes an investigation into the relationship between staging, the process of creating a performance, and theatrical praxis as research, an epistemological and methodological proposition developed in our master's dissertation (2022) on Practice as Research. In this project, we specifically investigate the ontological aspects that comprise the staging of theatrical research. We will conduct an internship in Santiago, as part of the PhD in Arts at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC), with the aim of acquiring theoretical tools to address our research problem and collect data for the production of our doctoral thesis. In this way, the research during the international internship will be carried out through: 1) interaction and dialogue with Prof. Andrés Grumann, PhD in Theater and Dance Studies, the internship supervisor; 2) participation in an interdisciplinary graduate program focused on Practice as Research; and 3) the activity of artist-researcher at Tercer Abstracto, generating and collecting artistic and meta-artistic materials from our company, the object of study of the doctoral research. Furthermore, the internship will ensure the consolidation of the joint doctoral agreement between USP and UC for the development of our thesis "The Staging of Research."
