Abstract

This project seeks to deepen our master's exploration and contribute to the international debate about the link between research and creation, crystallized in the term "practice as research". In the conclusions of our dissertation we proposed the term "praxis as research" as a substitute for the previously mentioned. The proposition starts from the understanding that theater research takes place in praxis, that is, in the dialectical unity between theory and practice that transforms reality through the production of "objects" (SÁNCHEZ, 1977). In this sense, this investigation will focus on staging, the stage of creation in which the theater generates its object, the show. What is the place of staging in "theatrical praxis as research"? How can a show be the result of an investigation? To answer these questions, we will deepen the bibliographical study related to the theories of "practice as research", now linked with the notions of "praxis" and "enactment". Subsequently, we will work with two research objects, the collectives Buenos Aires Escénica (Argentina) and Tercer Abstracto (Chile/Brazil). We will observe, in the practice of the different agents who participate in the creative processes (directors, actors, actresses and playwrights) and in their productions of "explicit thinking" (DUBATTI, 2020), how they stage the research. Finally, we will confront knowledge from theory with knowledge from practice, in search of a synthesis that will help us understand the relationship between staging and "theatrical praxis as research".
