Abstract

Quantum yield is a highly important physical-chemical quantity in the field of photoluminescencestudy. Through quantum yield, it is possible to determine the efficiency of converting light energyinto another form of energy, such as electrical or chemical. The objective of this project is toconstruct an integrating sphere system to determine the quantum yield of turbid samples. The studyof quantum yield will be applied to 3 compounds commonly used in photochemistry: fluorescein, acridine orange, and methylene blue. The turbidity of the solution will also be produced with 3different solutions: barium sulfate, titanium dioxide, and lipid emulsion.
