Abstract

This scientific initiation project aims to analyze the production and reproduction of pro-market views in the media, through the study of discourses linked to the financial market and entrepreneurship disseminated by columnists in newspapers, magazines and websites aimed at investors and entrepreneurs. The research seeks to relate such discourses with the trajectories of social agents who disseminate these views in order to trace the links between beliefs and social positions of agents and institutions. Furthermore, it seeks to unravel the links between pro-market messages and expressions in terms of moral and ethical values, codes of conduct, verified in the texts of the agents studied, in order to contribute to reflections on the ways of justifying and legitimizing capitalism contemporary. We consider the speeches produced and reproduced by the selected columnist agents (12 columnists who write for O Estado de S. Paulo, Folha de S.Paulo, MoneyTimes, InfoMoney and/or Revista Exame) as taking positions, being conditioned by their social properties and social positions. This investigation has Pierre Bourdieu sociology as its theoretical-methodological basis and mobilizes categories such as social origin, social position, habitus and capital (economic, cultural and social).
