Abstract

Stroke is a medical condition characterized by the interruption of blood flow to the brain, resulting in damage to neural cells and is one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide, with risk factors including hypertension, diabetes, smoking, physical inactivity, and dyslipidemia, among others. The objective of this study is to analyze and describe the prevalence of stroke according to the sociodemographic and economic profile of the population in the NutriNet Brazil study. The analysis will be conducted using data from the NutriNet Brazil study. Participants receive monthly email notifications inviting them to complete questionnaires about diet, physical health, mental health, risk factors, and sociodemographic information. The target population for this study will consist of individuals over 18 years old from all regions of Brazil who have responded to the sociodemographic and health questionnaires of NutriNet Brazil. The sociodemographic and health variables to be analyzed include: Gender; Age; Race/Ethnicity; Education; Total population studied; Total individuals with self-reported (medically diagnosed) stroke. Data analysis will compare the proportion of stroke cases across different categories of sociodemographic variables, using confidence intervals estimated by Stata 16.0 software.
