Abstract

Methanol is one of the main products that can be selectively obtained from CO2 hydrogenation and has been considered a potential fuel for the energy transition, especially in the maritime transportation sector. Studies focused on developing catalysts and the process for CO2 conversion are aligned with global goals to reduce carbon emissions and transition to a sustainable energy source. In this stage, the candidate will be exposed to the development of catalysts from the laboratory scale to the scale of technical catalysts, as well as the opportunity to operate a catalytic testing unit aimed at methanol production. Additionally, the candidate will become familiar with the analytical methods used for the identification and quantification of products, as well as activity and selectivity calculations. The student will be guided on best practices for laboratory safety and will work in a multidisciplinary group of chemists and engineers.
