Abstract

In this project, we explore the hypothesis that structural endoplasmic reticulum proteins such as reticulon-4 (RTN4) may control processes associated to the expression or subcellular translocation of proteins important for redox regulation, such as PDIs, while regulating the process of ER-associated protein degradation (ERAD). We address the following questions: 1) Does RTN4 down-expression activate ERAD 2) Does increased RTN4 expression promote ERAD impairment 3) Are PDIA1 and Erp44 degraded via ERAD in this situation 4) Is the increased superoxide production due to RTN4 due to Nox4, Nox1 or their interaction (AU)
