Abstract

This research project abroad is part of a broader postdoctoral research project on care, population aging, and debt. The process known as the financialization of old age (Debert & Felix, 2024) has as its central objective the indebtedness for care expenses (in the broad sense: caring for oneself, caring for others, and receiving care). The subject is present in the French public debate, because the fiscal austerity policy has reduced the role of the State in the provision of social services. The project aims to collect data in France to establish a comparative study with Brazil from a gender and age perspective.
