Abstract

The development of human activities is deeply linked to energy consumption, and this relationship has intensified over the years, resulting in a growing demand for energy sources. The research project aims to explore the potential of hydrokinetic energy, a form of renewable generation that is still little used in Brazil despite the great potential that the country has in its implementation, by evaluating its viability on the Paraná River, especially in the section below the Engenheiro Hydroelectric Plant. The study aims to measure the energy potential of the river current and analyze the economic viability of installing hydrokinetic devices, in addition to evaluating the economic sustainability of the project, considering installation, maintenance and operation costs in comparison with other renewable and conventional energy sources.
