Abstract

The aim of this study is to compare infant mortality among selected countries in the Global South, contrasting their different determinants between 2010 and 2021, while examining how established international and national policies influence infant mortality in various regions. The data sources used for this study will be the World Bank and the United Nations. The study will calculate and present the infant mortality and neonatal mortality rate, low birth weight, malnutrition, and diseases affecting individuals in specific age groups in different countries over the period. Descriptive analyses will be conducted for all variables/indicators included in the study. Frequency tables and graphs will be constructed for the period, and measures of central tendency and dispersion will be calculated for discrete and continuous quantitative variables. To assess trends in the indicators over the analyzed period, time series models, such as the autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model, will be applied.
