Abstract

Microneedles (MNs) coupled with lateral flow assay (LFA) systems represent an emerging diagnostic technology with significant potential due to their low cost, ease of use, and minimally invasive nature. These systems allow the extraction of interstitial fluid (IFS) through micrometric channels, enabling the detection of biomarkers for infectious diseases with reduced pain and fewer side effects. This platform offers a rapid and portable method for immunologically detecting several pathogens responsible for acute infections, including leptospirosis. This approach aims to provide diagnostic accessibility, especially in resource-limited settings.
