Abstract

The Alto do Juquery sub-basin is strategically important and is considered an area of ¿¿great interest since it is intended to supply the populations of the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo - RMSP. Consequently, it is essential to monitor the environmental indicators of this sub-basin, as this will allow for more assertive decisions regarding land use policy. The SWAT (Soil & Water Assessment Tool) model is a watershed-scale model developed to quantify the impact of land management practices in large and complex watersheds. The objective of this model is to predict the long-term effects on large management basins and is used to simulate the water cycle. The SWAT Model will be used to delimit the Alto do Juquery sub-basin. The model will use the database of georeferenced maps of the digital elevation model (DEM), land use, soil, and climate to construct the Hydrological Response Unit (HRU) to model the flow data. Areas with the same soil type and land use form a Hydrologic Response Unit (HRU), a basic computational unit considered homogeneous in hydrologic response to land cover change. With the study, the sub-basin management can be improved using more precise parameters for decision-making based on modeling future changes in water availability in the sub-basin.
